Every year for the past decade, the number of openings for software and web developers has grown. That trend is expected to continue for at least the next decade. Companies of all sizes express a consistent demand for developers who can write high-quality code and problem solve with others.
By the end of this intensive course, you will be able to:
Our students are engineers, artists, journalists, entrepreneurs, financial analysts, folks just out of college… anyone and everyone who might be looking for a new career in software programming or web development. You can also rest assured that everyone has expressed a real passion for pursuing this education.
BoiseCodeWorks holds local meetups for startups, tech companies and investors, putting you in close proximity to founders and CEOs of some of the industry's most promising companies. We try to create the ideal environment to network and make valuable connections. You will be surrounded by driven individuals and an incredibly strong network that is eager to help you build your career.
By the end of the course, you will have:
No, this course is focused on the tech side of the equation, not the business side. We do hold meetups and presentations from local investors and entrepreneurs, so we do try to provide resources for you to learn from, but they are not part of the curriculum.
To ensure all BCW students get the individual attention and resources they need to succeed, courses are limited to 25 students. Once we receive your down payment, your spot will be secured. Until then, enrollment is still subject to availability. If a course is in particularly high demand, we may have to ask you to wait for the next cohort. If that’s the case, we will let you know as soon as possible.
This is an accelerated course, and we will be covering a lot of material. We typically tell students that they can miss no more than three (3) classes and still expect to get a Certificate of Completion. Missing classes can limit your learning potential so we encourage students to come even if they are going to be late. However, we understand that it’s not always possible to make it to class. If you are going to miss a class let the instructor know.
We believe that in-person instruction is integral to an effective development education. We currently are not offering online courses, however we have an excellent resource library.
We accept cash, check, direct deposit, credit/debit card and Paypal. When sending a check, please direct it to BoiseCodeWorks; 1444 S Entertainment Ave Ste. 306 Boise, ID 83709. Please include your full name and related course description. Any questions related to student payments please firstname.lastname@example.org. For Paypal, please email email@example.com and forward your confirmation page once you’ve submitted.
We understand that students need mentors and teachers! Our instructors and mentors always try to be available via email or chat, and they will be in class as often as possible during lecture and lab. During any group workshops, students will have a dedicated work environment with their peer teams and mentors.
We do our best to monitor the progress of all of our students, and if someone is struggling, we try to get them up to speed. Our mentors and instructors are often available for one-on-one sessions to help with weaker areas. If students struggle with a particular concept to the extent that it slows their team down, we may have that student leave that particular cohort and join a future cohort, at no extra cost.
We are educators! We love questions! Shoot us an email or give us a call. We strive to respond to all questions within one business day. Don't worry; there are no dumb questions!
Each of our classes requires a pre-paid deposit. The amount of the deposit can vary depending on the tuition of the course. We also offer payment plans and work with Climb Credit, a financing provider that provides loans solely for students of code schools.
Yes! We know it might not easy to pay tuition all at once, so we offer payment plans. After you submit your deposit to confirm your spot we will work with you to confirm payment dates for the remainder of your tuition. You can speak with our Admission Team for more details.
We try to make sure our courses are accessible. We believe that tuition should not get in the way of a person’s desire to improve their life. Nationwide, the average tuition for an Immersive course is approximately $12,000, with many schools charging up to $20,000. We pride ourselves on offering an affordable and quality coding education.
In some cases, some of our students have worked with their employers to share the cost of the course. If your company offers tuition reimbursement, your local admissions officer can provide employer packets for you to share information about our courses with your employer.
You can cancel your enrollment, without any penalty or obligations, through the seventh calendar day before class begins. Any cancellation after that date will result in at least the loss of the non-refundable deposit.
You can withdraw from your course at any time after the cancellation period. Withdrawal from a course happens in one of the following situations: You notify your BCW Instructor in writing of your withdrawal, which can be done via email or snail mail. Withdrawal is effective when BCW receives notice, or the date the notice is mailed, whichever happens first.
BCW terminates your enrollment for failure to maintain satisfactory progress; failure to abide by BCW’s rules and standards of conduct; absences in excess of maximum set forth by BCW; and/or failure to meet financial obligations to BCW.
After the 10th day of instruction and absent extraordinary circumstances, students who withdraw from a course will not receive a refund. If you believe you have an extraordinary circumstance, please submit a request in writing to the BCW. Any refunds given in such circumstances will be less a non-refundable tuition deposit.
BCW may terminate your enrollment for failure to maintain satisfactory progress; failure to abide by BCW’s rules and standards of conduct; absences in excess of maximum set forth by BCW; and/or failure to meet financial obligations to BCW.
Your last date of attendance is determined by the date in which you emailed us your intent to withdraw from the program.
We encourage our students to bring their own functioning laptops. We will do our best to make sure your laptop is set up correctly for a functioning development environment. Bring a laptop that you are familiar with, whether that be a Windows or Mac. There is no reason to try to learn a new operating system while trying to learn to code. If you need some guidance on purchasing a laptop please look at the minimum system requirements for Visual Studio Community or contact us.
No, The developer community is largely open-source and we support that model. When you enroll in a course you will receive an email with our recommended software and instructions for downloading and installing the correct software for your laptop.
Yes, we believe you can, and we have seen it happen many times. Our Immersive course is an intense learning experience and we are providing hands-on training. Your experience at BoiseCodeWorks can be thought of as an in-depth internship or apprenticeship where you are learning from industry professionals. With an education from BoiseCodeWorks, alumni should be well prepared to provide superior software development skills upon graduation.
Many of our longer, intensive courses are designed for beginners and no prior knowledge is required. Because of the nature of our school, our students have very diverse backgrounds, so we try to offer mentors, office hours, and course materials available as needed, giving you the opportunity to proceed at your own pace with plenty of support. That said, some of the skills we teach, including programming, aren’t always easy to learn and require focus and attention. If you are starting from square one, be prepared to work hard and put in some time and effort to learn the material. We hope you take the pre-course work seriously so that you are ready to start the course with some basic skills. We evaluate all the pre-course work and plan the first couple of weeks according to the skill level of the class. Also, all students will be paired with mentors and peer groups according to their skill levels.
Yes, we take the pre-course work evaluation very seriously upon enrollment. We want to see how much you know. We will evaluate all the pre-course work and plan the first few weeks of classes according to the skill level of the class. If there are students who are far above the class level we have an alternative plan for those individuals to keep them progressing from their skill point on. Also, all students are paired with mentors and peer groups according to their skill levels.
Of course! We know it may sound like a bit of a time commitment, but being a software developer is all about passion. If you have the passion that drives you to learn new things, you will find yourself really enjoying your journey to become a developer, not struggling to make it through the bootcamp.
While BoiseCodeWorks does not guarantee job placement after graduation, we do our best to put students in a position to find employment. Particularly in our Immersive courses, we heavily emphasize career preparation, and we have several initiatives designed to increase the employability of students.
We provide a letter of completion at the end of the course confirming passing status, a BoiseCodeWorks Certificate, and a permalink to your student profile detailing your completions status.
BoiseCodeWorks is not accredited. Federal student loan aid cannot be used in conjunction with our programs.
